CanTho (VNA) – The Women’s Union of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tholaunched the Women Startup Day on March 6 to celebrate the InternationalWomen’s Day (March 8) and encourage the women to start businesses.

TheWomen Startup Day will have a series of programs to support the women’sstartups between 2018 and 2025 as they are facing a number of barriers inskills, resources and ability to use advanced technology.

The supportwill be provided for all women living in the city with a business idea, thosewanting to start a business, new cooperatives and startups owned by women, andfemale entrepreneurs clubs. Priority will be given to women living in difficultcircumstances, or from ethnic minority groups, or with disabilities.

FromMarch 2018, the city will select innovative and feasible startup ideas toprovide support in branding, funding and training.

Thecity’s Women Union will introduce women with startup ideas to participate invocational training courses that offer knowledge in startups. It will also givethem legal assistance in registering trademarks to original inventions, patentsor local specialties.

Itwill work with banks and credit institutions to give women entrepreneurs betteraccess to funding and organize regional and international trade promotionevents to help them improve their businesses’ competitiveness.

CanTho sets to raise awareness of career and startup issues among 70 percent ofits women, support the establishment of at least 20 cooperatives managed bywomen, and advise and aid the development of 1,500 newly-found enterprisesowned by women.-VNA
