Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium Pham Sanh Chau and Vice Chairman of Can Tho city People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam cut the ribbon to kick off the fair, one of the major trade events in Europe.
As many as 50 enterprises from Can Tho are showcasing various kinds of products ranging from seafood, green tea, coffee, processed farm products, electronics, logistic and tourism services across 38 booths at the 9-day fair.
The event offers a good chance for Vietnamese city’s firms to promote the image of Can Tho and Mekong Delta provinces and their potentials for economic development to business associations, importers and investors in Belgium and those from Europe, while calling for more foreign investment to the region.
The fair also serves as a venue helping participating enterprises seek cooperation opportunities and establish partnership.
Talking with Vietnam News Agency’s correspondents in Belgium, Deputy PM Alexander De Croo said his country and Vietnam have a great potential to bolster cooperation in the fields of agriculture and aquaculture, which are strong sectors of Belgium.
According to Vice Chairman of Can Tho city People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam, businesses operating in Can Tho want to forge links with firms in East Flanders and Europe, and they hope that many contracts will be inked at the fair.
In the framework of the fair, an investment-trade-tourism promotion conference will be held to introduce projects that Can Tho and other Mekong Delta localities are calling for investment.
