The Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control has asked relevant ministries and central coastal localities from Da Nang to Ba Ria-Vung Tau to prepare measures to cope with Typhoon Bopha.
According to the National Committee on Search and Rescue, by 5:00 pm on December 4, local authorities had informed and guided 45,320 fishing ships with more than 243,400 people on board to seek shelters.
The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 19:00 on December 4, typhoon Bopha, packing 118-133 km per hour winds, was located at latitude 9.4 degrees north and longitude 122.3 degrees east, in the eastern area of Sulu Sea in the Philippines.
In the next 24-48 hours, Bopha will move in a west-west-north direction with a speed of 20 km per hour. By 19:00 pm on December 6, the typhoon will be located at latitude 13 degrees north and longitude 115.7 degrees east, about 240 km north-northeast of Song Tu Tay island on Truong Sa archipelago.
