A dignitaries’ council of Balamon religion followers of the Cham ethnic minority group made its debut in Ninh Phuoc district, the central province of Ninh Thuan on Jan. 8.
Earlier on Dec. 13, the Chairman of the Ninh Thuan Province People’s Committee issued a decision recognising the Cham Balamon provisional dignitaries’ council of Ninh Thuan province and the council’s advisory board.
The establishment of the council is a significant event for dignitaries and all Cham Balamon people in the province, meeting their demand and aspiration.
The Balamon religion, which is recognised by the Vietnamese Party and State and operates in line with the Constitution and laws, creates a link between the Cham Balamon people and other religious followers as well as joins hands with provincial authorities and mass organisations to implement movements and policies of the Party and laws.
The council consists of 16 members with Po Dhia (priest) Truong Dinh being chairman and the advisory board includes nine members./.
