Hanoi (VNA) - China and Singapore have agreed to deepen cooperation in key areas.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang made the affirmation during talks with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Beijing on April 8.
While hailing the development of bilateral ties, Li said China and Singapore are expanding the depth and breadth of cooperation.
China will work with Singapore to consolidate political trust, strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs and bring bilateral ties to a new level, Li said.
He also called on the two countries to boost cooperation in other fields such infrastructure development, finance, defence-security, education and communication.
China will maintain the global free trade system and work with ASEAN member countries, Li said.
For his part, Lee said China and Singapore have friendly ties, and effective economic and trade cooperation.
Singapore will play a constructive role to promote its ties with China and China-ASEAN relations, Lee said.
Singapore will always support the multilateral trading system, and a rule-based international order, he said.
The two government leaders also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
After the talks, they witnessed the signing of several bilateral cooperation documents in fields like culture and third-market cooperation.-VNA
