Cinemas to get major boost as movie-goers return over New Year holiday

2021 was a tough year for Vietnamese cinema due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cinemas have high hopes for a post-pandemic rebound, however, as the number of movie-goers rose significantly in the opening days of 2022.

CGV, Galaxy, Lotte, and BHD Star cinemas saw a significant increase in the number of movie-goers compared to the end of 2021. This is a robust sign for the cinema industry more than two months after reopening their doors.

Many local and foreign blockbusters premiered in Vietnam on the opening days of 2022 to attract audiences, including (Survive), Spider-Man, and No Time to Die.

Along with cinemas in the city centre, those on the outskirts of town also saw rosy signs after being closed for a year./.
