The first Clean Tech Bootcamp came to a close in Hanoi on October 17 with the participation of 24 small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The camp aimed to develop clean energy innovations, energy-efficient solutions and adaptation techniques in the fields of transport, agri-business, and water management.
The initiative was developed by the World Bank’s Climate Technology Programme (CTP) in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in an effort to accelerate the growth of green businesses in the region and reduce the impact of climate change.
According to the World Bank’s senior environmental economic expert Laura Altinger, Vietnam’s unique climate and rapid economic growth require appropriate innovative solutions that are adapted to local conditions.
The bootcamp comprised lectures and hands-on workshops that provided entrepreneurs the opportunity to refine their product strategies, business models and negotiation skills, as well as build networks with clean-tech investors.
Via the Climate Innovation Centre (Vietnam CIC), the programme will continue to nurture and mentor the SMEs and other climate technology enterprises. Thanks to it, Vietnam CIC will benefit around one million people, including women, children, and the financially disadvantaged to mitigate the damage caused by climate change.-VNA
