Long An (VNA) - A clean waterplant with total investment of 650 billion VND (more than 27.9 million USD) wasput into operation in Thu Thua district, the Mekong Delta province of Long Anon April 20.
Covering 31 ha in Nhi Thanh commune, the plantwas equipped with modern technology.
With maximum capacity of 80,000 cu.m per day, the Nhi Thanh plant is expected to provide clean water for Tan Ancity, and the districts of Thu Thua, Tan Tru, Ben Luc, Can Giuoc and Can Duoc.
It uses uBCF bio-filtration technology, which is applied in many developedcountries. This environmentally friendly technology helps improve raw waterquality without using chemicals and meets standards regulated by the Ministryof Health.
The plant also uses the Ostwald Filtration Systems (OSF) to save energy and removetoxic components in treated water.
Pham Tan Hoa, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee said thelocality is making every effort to restrict the exploitation of groundwaterresources and minimise saline intrusion and depression caused by climatechange.
The project is part of the province’s policyto mobilise social resources for developing clean water systems, thus improvingpeople's health, he said. -VNA
