Vietnam ’s committees for peace and solidarity have called on parties in conflict to cease fire and boost dialogue to seek solutions regarding the unrest in Libya .
The Vietnam Peace Committee, the Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation with Asia, Africa and Latin America and the Committee for Solidarity with Libyan Arab People issued a statement on April 19, backing international and national peace, solidarity and friendship committees’ declarations and activities regarding the situation in Libya .
The committees expressed their deep concern about events in Libya and shared the Libyan people’s losses.
They also called upon all parties to end military actions and seek peaceful solutions which are suitable under international law and the basic principles of the UN Charter.
The parties should also respect the independence and sovereignty of nations and avoid the possibility of negative precedents in international relations, for the interest of Libyan people, peace and stability in the region and the world at large./.
