The event will be organizedby the Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region in coordinationwith Can Tho authorities.
Speaking at theconference, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee said the event will beheld in place of the annual Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Forum.
The green tourism week will feature a series ofconferences and seminars focusing on promoting the region’s tourismpotential, calling for investment in green tourism, and seekingsolutions to increase regional collaboration in the field.
Located between Tien and Hau rivers, the Mekong Delta, comprising CanTho city and 12 provinces with a population of 18 million, boasts a hugepotential for tourism development.
Inthe first five months of this year, the region welcomed nearly 11million visitors, an 8.9 percent increase compared to the same periodlast year. Of them, more than 800,000 were foreigners, according to theMekong Delta Tourism Association.-VNA
