Conference discusses support for Vietnamese businesses in Cambodia in removing difficulties

The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia on February 14 organised a meeting with Vietnamese businesses operating in Cambodia to discuss measures to help the businesses tackle obstacles to their investment and business.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia on February 14 organised ameeting with Vietnamese businesses operating in Cambodia to discuss measures to help the businesses tackle obstacles to their investment and business.

Speaking at themeeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang said that althoughthe year 2022 saw challenges, Vietnamese businesses continued to “stand firm”and overcame challenges, making an important contribution to promoting economicrelations between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Ambassadorexpressed his belief thatin 2023, with the COVID-19 pandemic under control, Cambodia will continue toreopen strongly and focus on restoring and developing the country, which pavethe way for Vietnamese investors in the country to gain successes in theirbusiness and investment.

At theconference, units under the Embassy and the Vietnam Business Club in Cambodia(VBCC) provided the latest information on Cambodia’s economic development, its investment attraction policies, Vietnam-Cambodia cooperation aswell as Cambodia’s latest policies in taxes, labour code, investment policies forVietnamese businesses.

Representatives of Vietnamese businesses raised problems they face wheninvesting and doing business in Cambodia, calling on competent authorities of the two countries to help themto solve the problems.

Ambassador Tang affirmedthat the embassy will collect the recommendations and proposals of businessesand submit them to the 20th Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee Meeting and the 12thConference on Cooperation and Development of Border Provinces between the twocountries in 2023 for consideration and settlement.  

In 2022, Vietnam-Cambodia bilateral trade turnover increased by nearly 11% to 10.58 billion USD.

Regardinginvestment, in 2022, Vietnam had 12 new investment projects in Cambodia with atotal registered capital of 7 million USD, while 23 million USD was added to existing projects. 

As of the end of2022, Vietnam had 205 valid investment projects in Cambodia with a total registered capital of 2.94 billion USD, making the country the fifth largest foreign investor and the largest ASEAN investor inCambodia./.

Vietnam, Thailand strengthen investment ties, smart city cooperation

Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner within ASEAN, while Vietnam ranks as Thailand's sixth-largest trading partner globally. Bilateral trade reached 22.07 billion USD in 2025, with both sides aiming to increase the figure to 25 billion USD in the coming years. Deputy PM requests faster disbursement of ODA-funded projects

As of June 15, the disbursement rate for public investment funded by external sources had reached only 9.99% of the assigned plan. Although the figure was higher than in the same period last year, it remained well below the national average. Notably, one out of eight ministries and central agencies and 13 localities had yet to disburse any allocated capital.

High-tech FDI attraction set as strategic priority: official

Vietnam draws harder line on FDI quality under new resolution
