Local and foreign experts in biomedical engineering from 21 countries have gathered in Ho Chi Minh City for an international conference on how to develop the field.
Local and foreign experts in biomedical engineering from 21 countries have gathered in Ho Chi Minh City for an international conference on how to develop the field.

The conference is to confirm the sustainable development of biomedical engineering in Vietnam and create a foundation for Vietnam and the international community to work closer together to help the country further itself in this area, said Prof. Dr. Vo Van Toi, the Chair of Biomedical Engineering Department of the International School.

The three-day conference, which opened on January 11, will present reports on x-rays, healthcare information technology, molecular and cellular biological medicines and complementary alternative medicines.

The head of the HCM National University ’s International School , Ho Thanh Phong, said that his university will invest 40 billion VND (2.16 million USD) to build a laboratory to study biomedical engineering from 2010 to 2015 to develop this field in Vietnam./.
