Conference reviews publication provision for ethnic-populated areas during 2019-2021

The Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs has held a virtual conference to review its implementation of the Prime Minister’s decision on providing newspapers and magazines for ethnic-populated, mountainous, and extremely difficult areas in the 2019 – 2021 period.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Committee on Ethnic MinorityAffairs has held a virtual conference to review its implementation of the PrimeMinister’s decision on providing newspapers and magazines forethnic-populated, mountainous, and extremely difficult areas in the 2019 – 2021period.

As heard at the event, during the period, the committeeworked with the Ministries of Information and Communications and of Finance to issue 59 documents to guide the implementation. It also conducted regularpreparations of communications topics and contents for 19 newspapers andmagazines in line with the decision, as well as examined the performances andeffectiveness of these publications weekly and monthly.

In his remarks, Hau A Lenh, Minister-Chairman of the committee,affirmed the decision reflected the Party and State’s special attention toethnic minority groups.

It helped spread the authorities’ policies andorientations within the communities and collect feedback from the groups to build policies for them, he added.

The official said it is necessary to improve the quality andrefresh the designs and contents of these publications following the groups’actual demand for information.

He also requested the committee to fully capitalise on advantagesbrought about by printed newspapers, which show greater strength compared toother media types regarding such audiences./.

Sea turtle nests on Lam Dong's Hon Cau island for sixth time this year

Since the beginning of 2026, sea turtles have nested six times at three beaches on Hon Cau island, namely Nhat, Mui Tau and Ba Hon. Three nests were left undisturbed at safe locations, while another three were relocated to the incubation area for protection, involving a total of 246 eggs.
