Construction of the Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant extension began with a ceremony on December 13 in the southern province of Tra Vinh in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.
The coal-fired power plant, to be built in Dan Thanh commune, Duyen Hai district, has one turbine with design capacity of 660 MW.
Once completed in 42 months, it is expected to generate 3.9 billion kWh annually.
The plant has a total investment of 22.7 trillion VND (1.08 billion USD) sourced by the Power Generation Company 1 (GENCO 1) under Electricity of Vietnam Group. The main contractor is Sumitomo Corporation of Japan.
