PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) and PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC) signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth 1.2 billion USD for the Thai Binh 2 Thermo Power Plant, on February 28.
Under the contract, PVC as general contractor of the project will carry out works in the EPC package including designing, equipment and materials purchase, building and installation execution, test running, training, and arrangement of capital.
PVC will implement the package in cooperation with the project management consultant and the foreign designing consultant.
Covering an area of 43 ha in My Loc commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh northern Province , the 1,200-MW plant has a total investment of more than 1.6 billion USD.
It consists of two plant units, using a popular coal-fueled steamer , which is an environmentally friendly technology that meets Vietnamese and international standards on emission.
Once completed and put into operation, the plant is expected to provide more than 6.7 billion kWh for the national grid system.
As scheduled, the project will be started on March 1./.
