Hoi An city, a famous destination in central Quang Nam province, has suspended tourism activities to curb the spread of COVID-19 (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam National Administration ofTourism (VNAT) has requested tourism departments of localities nationwide topromptly take measures to ensure safety for tourists in the face of the complexdevelopments of COVID-19.
The VNAT said on July 29 that in a recentdocument sent to tourism authorities, its General Director Nguyen Trung Khanhordered them to make sure that local travel firms and tourists regularly updatethemselves on the COVID-19 situation and seriously comply with directions bythe Government, the national steering committee on COVID-19 prevention andcontrol, the Ministry of Health, and local People’s Committees.
Provinces and cities nationwide have to maintainhotlines to stay connected with tourism businesses and travellers so as to havea good grasp of the situation and take actions to address difficulties facingthem in a timely manner.
While the localities with confirmed cases needto follow the Health Ministry’s recommendations, tourism service providers haveto seriously adhere to regulations set by relevant authorities and carry outmeasures to ensure safety for tourists and prevent the spread of thecoronavirus, according to the VNAT.
It also asked other localities to swiftlyactivate COVID-19 prevention and control procedures for different groups suchas tourists, travel firms, accommodation facilities, tourism service providers,and their staff as directed by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture,Sports and Tourism, and the VNAT.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Vietnamcurrently stands at 459, including nine new locally infected ones confirmed onJuly 30 morning./.
