The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has issued details of nine policies ahead of district council elections and above, which will be held on May 18.
The party has promised to increase the monthly salary of civil servants and soldiers to 250 USD, and to 160 USD for garment and footwear factory workers between now and 2018.
It also made a strong commitment to solving land disputes.
The campaign for the elections will last from May 2-16 with the involvement of five political parties. Nearly 11,460 members of communal and district councils will cast their votes.
A press release by the country’s National Election Committee said the CPP has the largest number of registered candidates, with hopefuls running for seats on 25 councils in the capital and provinces, and 197 in cities and districts.
