Culture Day brings ethnic culture closer to younger people

A kaleidoscope of cultural activities were held as part of the recent Vietnamese Ethnic Groups’ Culture Day in Son Tay town on the outskirts of Hanoi, with the focus on bringing the culture of the country’s 54 ethnic minority groups closer to young people.

An exhibition displayed cultural artifacts associated with local ethnic minority groups, such as utensils, documents regarding daily life, production, religion, belief, and musical instruments. Each artifact has its own story, reflecting the soul of the ethnic minority group, and was displayed to further spread the meaning of national cultural values.

This is the first time students from the Faculty of Cultural Heritage Management at the Hanoi University of Culture have directly experienced the beauty of ethnic minority cultures.

Activities included re-enactments of festivals and rituals and performances of traditional crafts and the daily activities of ethnic minority people, with the aim of bringing the culture of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minority groups closer to young people.

In addition to arousing national pride and raising a sense of responsibility in ethnic minority communities about preserving cultural identities, bringing young people and students from the city closer to the culture of each ethnic minority group is also a way to uphold the culture in a lasting and meaningful way./.
