(Photo baoquocte.vn) Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech RepublicJiri Kozak on December 12 affirmed that the country supports efforts tostrengthen ties between Vietnam and the EU.
During a meetingwith his Vietnamese counterpart Le Thi Thu Hang as part of his visit to Vietnamfrom December 12 to 13, Jiri said that as the rotating President of the EUCouncil in the second half of 2022, the Czech Government has always activelyboosted the removal of the European Commission’s IUU “yellow card” warningagainst Vietnam’s aquatic product exports.
It also calls on EU member countries to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment ProtectionAgreement (EVIPA).
Jiri appreciated the role of the Vietnamese community in Czech, particularlytheir contributions to the country’s COVID-19 prevention and control.
Hang spoke highly of the visit by Jiri and the Czech pharmaceutical medical businessdelegation which she said helps boost the two countries’ relations, particularly in thepharmaceutical industry.
She emphasisedthat Vietnam always pays attention to boosting relationship with traditionalpartners and the Czech Republic is one of its prioritised partners in Central and EasternEurope.
Hang said that Vietnam is grateful for the Czech Government’s donation of 250,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses that practically contribute to Vietnam’sCOVID-19 prevention and control.
At the meeting,the two agreed to increase contact and exchange of delegationsat all levels.
They expressedsatisfaction at the coordination between the two foreign ministries at multilateral forums, agreeing to continue strengthening cooperation and mutualsupport at regional and international organisations.
They also showed their delight at the economic achievements that the twocountries made over the past time and agreed that it is necessary to strengtheneffective and substantive cooperation in areas where the two sides havepotential and strengths.
They also agreed to encourageand create favourable conditions for investment projects and joint ventures ofthe two countries based on effectively taking advantage of the EU-Vietnam FreeTrade Agreement (EVFTA) and implementing the results of the 7th meeting of theVietnam-Czech Intergovernmental Committee./.
