Da Lat Flower Festival officially kicks off

LamDong (VNA) - The 8th Da Lat Flower Festival 2019 officiallyopened on December 20 evening, with thousands of visitors descending on theCentral Highlands province of Lam Dong for the event.

Withthe theme 'Da Lat and Flowers', it will be held until December 24 in Da Lat cityand Bao Loc city.

Publicareas around Xuan Huong lake, the main streets and flower villages aredecorated with locally-grown, colourful flowers.

DoanVan Viet, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said Lam Dong hasfavourable natural conditions, landscape, soil and climate foragricultural and tourism development.

Theprovince is also Vietnam’s leading locality in terms of hi-tech agriculture,and tourism is designated to be a driving force for its economic growth.

DeputyPrime Minister Truong Hoa Binh said, in 2019, Lam Dong's economic growthincreased by 8.5 percent, which exceeded the set plan, while locals’ incomesand living conditions have seen improvements.

Thefestival is an opportunity to honour the diligent flower farmers as well as promotethe beauty of the city, he added.   

Manyother events are taking place as part of the festival, including aninternational flower and bonsai exhibition and the Da Lat Flower TradeFair, as well as the Lam Dong Tea and Silk Culture Weekend and a fashionshow for silk and brocade made in Bao Loc.

Aconference on linking production and attracting investment into agriculturewill also be held.

Around500,000 visitors attended the 2017 Da Lat Flower Festival./.

The relics will be open for public worship and veneration at Hanoi-based Quan Su Pagoda from 6 am to 9 pm from May 14-16. They will then be transferred to Tam Chuc Pagoda in the northern province of Ha Nam from May 17-21, before being returned to India.
