Da Nang (VNA) – The Cau Vang (Golden Bridge) in the central coastalcity of Da Nang held up by a colossal pair of hands has caught media attentionworldwide due to its dazzling design.

The UK’s The Guardian called the footbridge part of “a line of weird andwonderful structures around the world”. Cau Vang is among unusual bridgesstretching from Iowa to India: “structures that are noteworthy as architecturalstatements in themselves, rather than accessories for an already popularlocation,” it wrote on July 30.

Meanwhile, the article “Behold Vietnam’s Enchanting Golden Bridge that lookslike it’s straight out of wonderland” posted on India Times on July 31 saidthat “the highlight of this jaw-dropping structure is that it rests on twogiant hands.”

Also, American Fox News said that the bridge “has attracted tourists from allover” and it is  “because of its uniquedesign that features two larger-than-life hands holding up a pedestrian pathwaydressed in gold.”

TheUS-based most visited architecture website archdaily.com lauded the structureas a “daring” bridge while the French design website creapills.com describedthe bridge as an “absolutely impressive bridge in Vietnam” which offersvisitors “an incredible experience: crossing a footbridge that seems literallysupported by two giant stone hands.”

Since its opening in June this year, the bridge has attracted a throng ofvisitors, all eager to see a novel piece of architecture.

The walkway is 150 metres long and comprises of eight spans, each of which islined with purple chrysanthemums. Locatedmore than 1,400m above sea level, the bridge serves as a transit between areplica of a French village and Le Jardin D’Amour flower garden in Ba Na Hillsresort. From the bridge, visitors have a panoramic view of the greenmountains of Nui Chua.

The bridge took just under a year to construct, with designs by TA LandscapeArchitecture. It is part of a 2 billion USD development project to bring moretourists to Vietnam.

Last month, the bridge was selected as the stage for the fashion show “Dao buoctren may” (A walk to the sky) by director Long Kan.-VNA
