The central city of Da Nang and China’s Guangdong province have agreed to enhance their tourism cooperation under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked in Da Nang on December 11.

The MoU was reached by the tourism associations of the two regions during the visit to Vietnam by Guangdong province’s Vice Governor Zhao Yu Fang.

As many as 17 Guangdong travel companies and 50 Vietnamese businesses witnessed the signing.

A seminar on tourism promotion between the two localities was also held on the day, highlighting each side’s tourism potential and policies as well as measures to step up their links in this field.

Over the past time, the cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and China have developed extensively in all areas, bringing practical benefits to both.

Notably, through a range of activities such as tourism promotion, the opening of direct flights and the creation of favourable conditions for enterprises, tourism ties between Da Nang and Guangdong have contributed to each side’s socio-economic development.

Together with a range of tourism promotion activities, Da Nang city has poured more investment in new products such as Ba Na-Suoi Mo ecotourism complex - with the longest and highest cable system recognised by the Guinness World Records, Fantasy Park- an entertainment indoor amusement park, Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountain) and Son Tra peninsula.

As a result, more and more international and Chinese visitors are flocking to Da Nang. The city served more than 3.1 million people this year, up 17.2 percent against 2012, with nearly 745,000 foreigners.

In the past three years, China ranked first among the city’s tourism markets with 105,000 holiday makers recorded in 2013, representing a year-on-year of 14 percent.

Da Nang was selected by the Smart Travel Asia magazine as one of the most ten attractive destinations in Asia last September.-VNA
