Da Nang int’l fireworks fest to kick off on April 30

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2018, themed “The Legend of Bridges”, will kick off on April 30 and end on June 30 with the participation of Vietnam and seven foreign teams.

Da Nang (VNA) – The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival(DIFF) 2018, themed “The Legend of Bridges”, will kick off on April 30 and endon June 30 with the participation of Vietnam and seven foreign teams.

Fireworks shows of the host and Poland will take place onthe Han River on April 30, while those of France and the US are scheduled forMay 26, Italy and China’s Hong Kong on June 2, and Sweden and Portugal on June9.

The two most excellent teams will launch their fireworks toentertain audience on June 30.

A string of activities are expected to be organised on thesidelines of the firework competition, including a food festival, a flash mobdance performance for students, and a street carnival show.

Held for the first time in 2008, the event, formerly knownas the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition, has emerged as an importantcultural and tourism event, contributing to cultural exchanges and wooing manyforeign tourists to Da Nang and Vietnam.

From 2017, the annual event has become a two-month festivalin order to lure more visitors to the city.

Da Nang welcomed 6.6 million visitors last year, an increaseof 19 percent against the previous year.-VNA

Golf tournament marks 50 years of Vietnam–Germany ties

The annual event, aimed at strengthening ties between the Vietnamese community and German friends, gathered over 100 golfers, including the Vietnamese Embassy staff, Lao Ambassador Mayboua Xayavong, representatives from the Japanese Embassy, German friends, sponsors, and others from golf clubs across the country.

Vietnamese culture highlighted at EU Open Day

As a honorary guest at the event for the first time, Vietnam presented a unique cultural and art performance programme, bringing overseas Vietnamese closer to their homeland. Each note stirred memories of vast rice fields, winding rivers, ancient village temples, and sweet lullabies.

Vietnam Festival in Japan to take place on May 31 and June 1

Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu, who is co-chair of the organising committee, noted that with 17 editions to date, the Vietnam Festival at the Yoyogi Park has become a hallmark of cultural exchange, eagerly anticipated each year by Japanese friends and the Vietnamese community living in Japan.
