Da Nang to host int’l fireworks fest in April

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2018 will be held in the central coastal city of Da Nang from April 29 to June 30 to celebrate the country’s Reunification Day (April 30).

Da Nang (VNA) - The Da NangInternational Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2018 will be held in the centralcoastal city of Da Nang from April 29 to June 30 to celebrate the country’sReunification Day (April 30).

The fireworks festival themed “The Legendof Bridges” will feature performances from seven teams from Poland, France, theUS, Italy, Hong Kong, Sweden, Portugal and the host country on the Han River.

Scores of activities are expected to takeplace on the sidelines of the firework competition, including a food festival,a flash mob dance performance for students, and a street carnival show.

[Da Nang sees significant growth in foreign visitors in 2017]

Held for the first time in 2008, the event,formerly known as the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition (DIFC), hasemerged as an important cultural and tourism event, contributing to culturalexchanges and wooing many foreign tourists to Da Nang and Vietnam.

This year marks an important milestone ofthe international-level competition as the event was renamed with eightinternational teams attending. Da Nang is expected to welcome 6.6 millionvisitors this year, an increase of 19 percent against last year.

Meanwhile, international tourist arrivalsto Vietnam in the first 11 months of this year totalled 11.6 million, a pickupof 27.8 percent from the same period last year, according to the VietnamNational Administration of Tourism. - VNA
