Uniform measures should be put in place in central Da Nang city to recover from consequences of natural disasters and disease and promote economic recovery, Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Nho Trung said on December 7.

Addressing the opening session of the 16th meeting of the municipal People’s Council’s 9th tenure, Trung said the city has posted negative growth of 9.77 percent for the first time, while budget collections accounted for only 70 percent of the target.

Public investment disbursement is still behind schedule, he said, laying stress on several concerns in the locality, including environmental pollution, water security, and traffic congestion, among others.

He ordered attendees to identify effective measures to recover the economy and ensure sustainably over the years to come.

Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang said it is necessary to improve the business climate, sharpen the focus on infrastructure development, promote the disbursement of public investment, and attract investment from domestic and foreign corporations.

The municipal People’s Council should work to remove bottlenecks in the legal system to promote the implementation of real estate projects, he added.

Participants also provided solutions for effectively piloting the urban administration model and many other special mechanisms in the time to come. Preparations for the election of National Assembly deputies and members of all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure were also on the agenda.

The meeting will take place until December 9, with participants considering dismissal from and election to key leadership positions in the municipal People’s Committee./.
