Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Van Hien received visiting Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek at the Ministry of Defence’s headquarters in Hanoi on October 23.
The deputy minister said Vietnam is willing to serve as a bridge for the Czech Republic to boost cooperation with ASEAN nations.
He added that Vietnam wishes to strengthen defence ties with the Czech Republic on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral defence cooperation signed in 2012.
Hien also suggested that the two sides should further foster ties in delegation exchange, training, defence industry, and science-technology.
For his part, Lubomir Zaoralek thanked the Vietnamese deputy minister for the warmly reception, affirming that he will make his best efforts to boost multilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of defence.

The Czech Republic does not back the use of force or the threat to use force to settle territorial disputes in the East Sea, an official has said.
