Binh Duong (VNA) – A delegation of the Cambodian Ministry of Cults and Religion, led by its Minister of State Khenh Hang Huon, paid a working visit to the southern province of Binh Duong on December 6.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Dang Minh Hung informed the visiting delegation on the outstanding socio-economic achievements of the province.
He said that Binh Duong recorded positive and comprehensive economic growth as average income per capita hit 130 million VND (5,575 USD) this year.
The province has currently reported as having zero poor households, and that people’s livelihoods have been significantly improved.
According to the official, the province’s external activities also enjoyed fruitful results. More than 3,500 foreign firms are operating in Binh Duong, with capital totalling 31 billion USD and ranking third nationwide, following Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
In 2018, Binh Duong became a member of the World Technopolis Association (WTA) and successfully hosted activities marking the association’s 20th founding anniversary.
In regards to religious activities, Hung said that Binh Duong is home to seven recognised religions with over 310 worshipping establishments and more than 1,300 dignitaries.
Local authorities have paid due attention to the demand for belief and religion practices of all people, creating optimal conditions for recognised religious organisations, dignitaries, and followers to follow their guidelines, charters, and regulations, he stated.
For his part, Kheng Hang Huon affirmed that the Government and people of Cambodia always remember the efforts, sentiments, and sacrifices of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers to save Cambodian people from genocide.
He said the delegation’s visit aims to deepen the mutual understanding and the two nations’ solidarity, contributing to the development of the traditional friendship, along with the comprehensive and sustainable cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam.
Through the visit, the delegation expects to yield valuable lessons to raise the efficiency of ethnic affairs and comprehensive socio-economic development of Cambodia, he added. –VNA
