The number of new dengue fever infections nationwide has dropped for eight consecutive weeks (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The numberof new dengue fever infections nationwide has dropped for eight consecutiveweeks, announced the General Department of Preventive Medicine under the HealthMinistry on October 26.
According to statistics of theministry, Vietnam recorded 862 dengue fever cases last week, 159 less than theprevious week and 2,707 (or 75.8 percent) below this year’s peak.
Notably, the country recorded nodeaths in the period. As many as 781 dengue patients are currently beingtreated in hospitals nationwide.
The capital city of Hanoi witnessed afall in new dengue cases in the last nine weeks. The city recorded 1,021 caseslast week, down 46 compared the previous week and 2,547 compared to its peak.
The country’s health sector hasmonitored dengue’s spread and launched numerous activities to tackle thedisease. It also warned people to stay vigilant as November normally sees anincrease in dengue cases.-VNA
