The Danish Embassy to Vietnam announced the expansion of its Cultural Development and Exchange Fund (CDEF) to Hue and other central cities and provinces at a workshop on February 12.

Attending the event were Ambassador John Nielsen - the CDEF’s chairman - and many young art activists in various fields from the provinces of central Vietnam.

The fund has assisted many northern artists during the past years, so in the coming period, it will focus more on creative minds in central and southern Vietnam.

The total fund of the programme is up to 3 million USD and the supported projects are in different artistic fields such as contemporary dancing, filmmaking and writing.

CDEF is part of the Vietnam – Denmark cultural development cooperation programme, which has provided financial support to nearly 70 projects since 2011. Every year, 20 to 25 projects receive funding on average.

The aim of the cultural exchange is to expose the two cultures to each other and to contribute to joint inspiration, cooperation and understanding between artists and people of the two countries.

The fund provides support to contemporary artists and cultural performances in Vietnam and to cultural exchange activities between Denmark and Vietnam.

All Danish and Vietnamese individuals or organisations may apply for project support.-VNA
