Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh on December 20 extended Christmas greetings to Catholic dignitaries and followers while visiting the Centre for Pastoral Care of My Tho Diocese and the Jesus Lao Cong Parish in My Tho city in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang.

Tien Giang (VNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Truong HoaBinh on December 20 extended Christmas greetings to Catholic dignitaries andfollowers while visiting the Centre for Pastoral Care of My Tho Diocese and theJesus Lao Cong Parish in My Tho city in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang.

Deputy PM Binh took this occasion to brief thedignities and followers about the nation’s socio-economic development and praisetheir significant contributions to the country’s great national unity and construction.

He expressed his hope that the dignities and followers in wouldcontinue to make contributions to the nation, thus strengthening the great national unity bloc.

The Deputy PM affirmed that the Party and Statealways facilitate operations of religious organisations, adding that theNational Assembly approved a Law on Belief and Religion, in line with thelegitimate needs of religious dignities and followers, including Catholics.

Archbishop Nguyen Van Kham of the My Tho Diocesepromised to work with the local authorities and organisations to promote thegreat national unity, thus helping with the national construction anddevelopment.

The My Tho Diocesenow has 140,000 dignities and parishioners,who are living in the provinces of Tien Giang, Long An and Dong Thap.-VNA

OVs in Thailand preserve cultural legacy

Dien Bien provides training for northern Lao cadres
