Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan on July 17 urged young overseas Vietnamese (OVs) to study and work hard to build the image of friendly and diligent Vietnamese, contributing to the development of their resident countries and the homeland Vietnam.
During a meeting with 30 students representing nearly 200 outstanding overseas Vietnamese who are attending the Vietnam Summer Camp 2013, the Deputy PM said the Vietnamese Party and Government always treasure the contribution of the OVs and attach much importance to the community, considering them an integral part of the nation.
Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Nguyen Thanh Son briefed Deputy PM Nhan on the summer camp’s activities during the past days.
The Deputy FM said, this year’s camp, themed “10 years – The call of the homeland” marks the 10th anniversary of its foundation.
It aims to help young overseas Vietnamese better understand the history and culture of their nation of origin, therefore enhancing their attachment to the country, he added.-VNA
