Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem arrived in Tokyo on January 15 to begin his six-day visit as guest of the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
The Deputy PM is scheduled to attend the fourth ministerial meeting of the Forum on East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC)
and co-chair the third meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee.
On the sidelines of the FEALAC ministerial meeting, Deputy PM Khiem is expected to meet with foreign ministers of Costa Rica and Paraguay , receive Japan-Vietnam Special Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro and representatives of the International Friendship Exchange Council of Japan and the Buddhism Summit Organisation.
On January 16, Deputy PM Khiem and the El Salvador Foreign Minister will sign an agreement on the establishment of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.
On January 18, the Vietnamese Deputy PM will visit the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) Operation Centre in Tokyo and then tour Osaka city.
In its press release launched before the Deputy PM Khiem’s visit, the Japanese Foreign Ministry expressed its hope that this visit would contribute to further elevating the Japan-Vietnam Strategic Partnership./.
