Dien Bien (VNA) – A Pa Chai border guard station under the Border Guard of northern Dien Bien province and the Border Management Detachment of Jiangcheng, Yunnan province of China, held a meeting at the border marker No.3 on April 25 to inform each other about border management situation and the results of bilateral cooperation since 2022.
They shared the view that the situation on both sides of the border is basically stable, with local people strictly complying with regulations on the management of the Vietnam-China land border, especially since both sides adopted COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
Last year, the A Pa Chai border guard station sent 15 letters to China and received 19 letters in accordance with their agreement on information exchange. The Chinese side transferred to the station one case involving one Vietnamese person who illegally crossed the border into China. Vietnam also handed over two cases to the Chinese side with seven Chinese people who illegally crossed the border into Vietnam.
As the COVID-19 pandemic still poses complicated risks, the two sides pledged to continue raising public awareness of pandemic prevention and control, the sense of crime denunciation, especially illegal border crossing activities in order to prevent the pandemic from spreading across the border, and proactively suggest the resumption of customs clearance at the A Pa Chai - Long Phu border crossing point.
They also vowed to increase patrol and coordination activities to maintain a borderline of peace, stability, and friendship./.
