Digital infrastructure drives national digital transformation

Vietnam, one of the leading countries in Southeast Asia in terms of digital infrastructure development, continues to make significant efforts to build a modern and integrated digital foundation, driving the comprehensive digital transformation of the nation, from digital government and digital economy to digital society.

Over the past two decades, Vietnam has transformed from a developing country with limited technical infrastructure into a Southeast Asian leader in digital infrastructure.

In 2023, Vietnam's 4G mobile broadband coverage reached 99.8%, surpassing many high-income countries. The 5G network is now available in all 63 provinces.

Vietnam also boasts 43 data centres with 571,000 servers, supported by 9 data centre service providers. By the end of 2023, over 80,000 digital community technology groups were formed nationwide, bridging the digital divide.

Digital infrastructure is a key pillar of the National Digital Transformation Programme, aiming to create a modern system that ensures cybersecurity and boosts national competitiveness. The Government is focusing on expanding broadband infrastructure, prioritising cities, industrial zones, and government agencies.

Plans include establishing at least three international-standard data centres and training 500,000 skilled IT professionals by 2025. Incentives are also in place to attract investments in digital infrastructure./.
