An Giang (VNA) - About 486,000 internet addresses had been registered with Vietnam’s top-level domain (TLD) “.vn” as of September 30, which tops all other ASEAN domains and is among Asia-Pacific’s top ten in terms of usage.
Director of the Vietnam Internet Network Information Centre, Tran Minh Tan, released the figure at a conference on the popularization of laws and inspection training in the information and communication sector in An Giang province on October 24.
Tan said the domain is open to registration on an equal, non-discriminatory and first-come-first-served basis, excluding the specially protected domains and those reserved for auction in accordance with Ministry of Information and Communications regulations.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Anh Tuan asked provinces and centrally-governed cities to step up the registration and use of the “.vn” domain in order to enhance the value of the national TLD./.
