The southern province of Dong Nai experienced a year-on-year increase of 7.38 percent in industrial production in the first four months of 2014.
Growth was reported in most key sectors, including the chemical (24.7 percent), leather (19 percent), and garment (14.8 percent), according to the local Department of Industry and Trade.
The support industry and foreign-invested businesses continue to play a vital role in maintaining the local industrial growth speed.
Deputy Director of the department, Nguyen Van Quan, said the production will pick up in the coming months as domestic garment-textile and leather firms are likely to increase the import of materials for manufacturing.
Consumption of products such as refrigeration appliances and beverages follow an upward trend during the summer, resulting in an increase in production, Quan added.
Others such as construction materials, steel, and cement are expected to enjoy growth too thanks to the State’s incentives, he said.-VNA
