DPRK, US leaders highly appreciate Vietnam’s role, position: FM spokesperson

Vietnam’s role and position was recognised and highly appreciated by leaders of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States of America (USA), as well as the international community, the spokesperson of Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry Le Thi Thu Hang has said.

Hanoi (VNA) –
Vietnam’s role andposition was recognised and highly appreciated by leaders of the DemocraticPeople’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States of America (USA), aswell as the international community, the  spokesperson of Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry LeThi Thu Hang has said.

In response to reporters’ queries on theDPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam on February 27-28, the spokesperson said that Vietnamhas closely followed this important event in Hanoi capital over the past twodays, along with the international community.

Vietnam has been consistent in supporting theprocess of peace and denuclearisation on the Korean Peninsula, she stressed.

The spokesperson noted that Chairman of theWorkers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK KimJong-un and US President Donald Trump had affirmed that the meeting in Hanoi isan important step in the process of dialogues between the two sides.

Through dialogues at the summit, the two leadersmade active and constructive efforts to discuss a number of important issuesrelating to peace and denuclearisation on the Korean Peninsula.

As the host of the summit, Vietnam has spared noefforts to prepare carefully and comprehensively to ensure absolute safety andsecurity for the event, demonstrating its external policy of independence,self-reliance, peace, cooperation, and development; as well as being aresponsible member in the international community, Hang said.

Vietnam shares the hope of the internationalcommunity that the involved parties will persistently pursue dialogues toresolve issues on the Korean Peninsula and promote the relations between theDPRK and the US, the spokesperson said.

She stressed that Vietnamis willing to play a constructive role in building peace and coordinating topromote the peace process on the Korean Peninsula. –VNA
