A delegation of Dutch enterprises arrived in the southern city of Can Tho on March 6 to seek investment opportunities in the locality as well as in the Mekong Delta provinces.
Most enterprises have been doing business in Vietnam in the fields of consultancy, technical design, agriculture, water management, cattle feed, quality management and education.
On the occasion, representatives of Can Tho city delivered briefings on the local geography, economic potential and priority fields for investment.
After establishing diplomatic ties in 1973, Vietnam and the Netherlands have always striven to promote their relations, especially in trade.
Vietnam exports 40 commodities to the Netherlands , mainly seafood products, footwear, textiles, coffee, rice and pepper.
By the end of 2010, Vietnam ’s export turnover to the Netherlands reached 1.68 billion USD. Vietnam ’s imports from that country are mainly in machinery, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, cattle feed, metal, milk and dairy products.
At present, the Netherlands has more than 130 investment projects in Vietnam with a total capital of 5.7 billion USD.
Most of projects are in southern provinces in the fields of foodstuffs, oil and gas exploration and exploitation, petrochemicals, cosmetics, hotel business and construction.-VNA
