Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam earned 212.2 trillion VND (9.34 billion USD) from tourism in the first five months of 2017, an increase of 26.7 percent from the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office.
International arrivals to the country reached more than 5.25 million during the period, up 29.6 percent year on year, while tourist attractions across the country welcomed 34.2 million domestic visitors.
The country received some 973,000 foreign travellers in May, down 9.2 percent from April and up 26.8 percent year on year. Most of them came from China (up 55.5 percent), the Republic of Korea (up 140.9 percent), Taiwan (up 22.6 percent), and Russia (up 52.8 percent).-VNA
