Secretary General of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front of El Salvador (FMLN) Medardo Gonzáles Trejo has expressed his strong belief that both Vietnam and El Salvador and their parties are working hard to step up their relations, friendship, trust, and cooperation.
In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency during his working visit to Vietnam from May 6-12, Medardo Gonzáles Trejo affirmed that the FMLN paid special attention to strengthening the connection between the two nations and mass organisations’ movements.
He acknowledged the importance of starting a process of connecting mass organisations’ movements in both countries, by enhancing visit and people-to-people exchanges, to promote bilateral friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation.
Vietnam and El Salvador need to prioritise the exchange of experience, particularly Vietnam’s success stories in agricultural development, he said.
During the visit, he was received by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong who reiterated Vietnam’s priority for developing friendly cooperation with traditional friends in Latin America, including El Salvador.
Earlier, the El Salvador delegation held talks with a Vietnamese Party delegation led by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh, which focused on specific plans for joint collaboration.
The guests also paid a courtesy call to National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, held working sessions with head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan, and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations.-VNA
