An ongoing project to enhance legal awareness has enabled nearly 4,000 ethnic women from Cukiun district of the Central Highland province of Dak Lak to have a better understanding of their rights.
The one-year project has so far conducted several training sessions on law for the benefit of women of Ea Ktur and Ea Tieu communes, making them more confident about sharing their knowledge and thoughts on gender parity and women’s social-economic rights.
Ea Ktur, which is home to 160 ethnic women, has reported no legal violation for several years now. Another noteworthy feature in the commune is the absence of any new HIV/AIDS cases.
These positive outcomes are attributed to efforts by the local Women’s Union, which has effectively popularised the Party’s policy and the State’s regulations.
This has helped women better understand the legal and social aspects of marriage and family, gender equality and childcare.
Covering an area of 13.125 square kilometers, Dak Lak province has a population of 1.8 million, 30 percent of whom belong to ethnic minority communities.-VNA
