New Delhi (VNA) – The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement is a good opportunityfor Indian investors, in Vietnam, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham SanhChau said at an online conference on June 12.

At the event, jointly held by the Vietnam Trade Office in India, the AssociatedChambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), and the HCM City Tradeand Investment Promotion Centre, Ambassador Chau said The deal was officiallyratified by the Vietnam National Assembly at its ninth session, Chau told theevent.

He said that the garment-textile industry will be one of the five sectors that haveopportunities to increase exports to the EU, while calling on Indian companiesto boost investment and establish plants in Vietnam in areas India is strong insuch as garment and textiles.

Indian ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma, for his part, said the two countries’embassies will intensify cooperation and information sharing, and set up jointworking groups to facilitate the work.

According to Verma, the Vietnamese market is potential for Indian businesses whichhave advantages in garment-textiles, pharmaceuticals, steel, agriculture andinformation technology.

At the event, participants discussed various issues and assessed the impacts ofthe COVID-19 pandemic on economies worldwide, including Vietnam and India, andways of weathering the crisis./.

Vietnam's tourism sector faces labour shortage

A 2026 survey by Hoteljob.vn found that nearly 90% of tourism businesses planned to recruit. In Ho Chi Minh City alone, 89.7% of businesses were hiring, while 71.8% said recruitment was difficult or very difficult. The biggest shortages were among frontline workers, particularly in housekeeping, engineering, food service, front-office operations, and kitchens.
