Exhibition highlights August Revolution, National Day

More than 150 documents, items and photos featuring the August Revolution in 1945 and the event on September 2, 1945 when the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was formed are being displayed during an exhibition that opened on August 18 at the National Museum of History in Hanoi.

Hanoi (VNA) – More than 150 documents, items andphotos featuring the August Revolution in 1945 and the event on September 2,1945 when the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was formed are being displayedduring an exhibition that opened on August 18 at the National Museum of Historyin Hanoi.

The exhibition is divided into two parts. The first section,themed “the strength of the nation”, introduces resolutions, directives and publicationsas well as weapons and flags related to the August Revolution in 1945.

Meanwhile, the second part, entitled “Independence DaySeptember 2,” showcases documents, items and photos on the IndependenceCeremony at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, as well as the national flag, anthem,Constitutions and a collection of currency and stamps of the DemocraticRepublic of Vietnam. A number of stories by historical witnesses are alsointroduced.

Particularly, two notebooks that President Ho Chi Minh usedto note down work lists from September 2 to October 17, 1945 are also ondisplay.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Director of the NationalMuseum of History Nguyen Van Doan said that the exhibition aims to provide thecommunity, especially youngsters with better understanding on the historicalmilestones as well as the national solidarity strength, the value ofindependence and freedom, thus encouraging them to contribute more to national buildingand safeguarding.

The exhibition will last until the end of December, 2020.

Co To to offer free vessel trips to/from island on 29th day of last lunar month

To meet rising demand from residents returning home for Tet and visitors travelling to the island, transport operators in Co To will continue daily passenger and cargo services to/from the island until the 29th day of the last lunar month, with operations resuming from the second day of the first lunar month (February 18).

To accommodate surging travel demand and keep transport operations running smoothly, the PM instructed relevant bodies to boost transport capacity, particularly public passenger services, to ensure seamless connections at railway stations, airports, bus terminals and ferry ports. Authorities were told to ensure that no travellers are left stranded or delayed in returning home for Tet due to a shortage of transport, while strictly preventing fare gouging and unlawful price hikes. Proactive measures to curb traffic accidents and congestion during the peak holiday period were also highlighted.
