Ha Giang (VNA) – Ha Giang needs to step up external relations to aid its socio-economic development in 2016, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung has said.
Trung also urged the locality to design a plan for the work in a five-year frame when addressing a conference on external relations on March 3 in the northern mountainous province.
He referred to a focus on activities to promote relations with Chinese localities and other international partners.
Ha Giang shares a 274-km borderline with China.
Other key tasks include enhancing the capacity of the foreign affairs-involved staff, preserving and promoting cultural values of local ethnic minority groups linked with developing the Dong Van karst plateau Geopark.
Ha Giang reported that it promoted the friendship and cooperative relations with China’s Yunnan province, and the Autonomous Zhuang Region of Guangxi province, contributing to maintaining the Vietnam-China borderline of peace, friendship and development.
In 2015, the province lured 27 ODA-funded projects, totalling over 100 billion VND (4.46 million USD) and piloted the export of local labourers to Chinese localities.-VNA
