Fatherland Front focuses on major anniversaries

The third conference of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee’s Presidium opened in the central city of Da Nang on July 15 under the chairmanship of President Huynh Dam.

During the two-day conference, the participants will review the VFF’soperations in the first half of the year and discuss its major tasks forthe second half.

They will examine the preparationsfor the 80th founding anniversary of the National Front for theLiberation of Southern Vietnam and the elections for the 13th NationalAssembly and People’s Council at all levels for the 2011-2016 term.

They will also discuss how to enhance their operations andthe methods used by the VFF and socio-political organisations whileupholding national unity as well as ethnic and religious affairs.

Regarding the major tasks to be taken in the remainingmonths of 2010, VFF committees at all levels and its memberorganisations will gather and encourage people from all walks of life toboost emulation movements for the celebrations of the 1,000thanniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi. The 65 years since the AugustRevolution, National Day, 80 years of the founding of the VietnamNational United Front and the 50 years of the founding of the NationalFront for the Liberation of Southern Vietnam will also be looked at.

The participants acknowledged the country’s gross domesticproduct (GDP) growth rate of 6.16 percent in the first six months ofthis year as well as its achievements in generating jobs, eliminatinghunger, reducing poverty, providing aid to people involved in naturaldisasters and preventing and controlling epidemics.

They also applauded the progress made in a several fields includingeducation, training, labour, health care, culture, social affairs,administrative reforms and the fight against corruption./.

The dispatch states that in implementing Conclusion No. 18-KL/TW dated April 2, 2026 of the 14th Party Central Committee on the 2026–2030 socio-economic development plan, national finance, public debt management and medium-term public investment, linked to the goal of achieving double-digit economic growth, the Government on April 29 issued 11 resolutions on cutting, decentralising and simplifying administrative procedures, business conditions, and conditional business lines. The Prime Minister subsequently directed ministries, agencies and localities to implement these resolutions.

Vietnamese, Angolan foreign ministers hold talks in Hanoi
