Feedback collected for draft decree on inspection over quality of imported goods

Hanoi (VNA) – A consultation conference was heldon March 30 to gather feedback on a draft decree on regulations on Stateinspection over quality and food safety of imported goods.

According to Vice Director of the General Department ofVietnam Customs Mai Xuan Thanh, the decree will feature reformed contentsincluded in a project to renovate the model of inspecting quality and foodsafety of imported goods.

Claudio Dordi,Director of USAID TradeFacilitation Programme, said that the full implementation of theproject will bring about positive changes for enterprises, including theincrease of capacity in risk management, the reduction in inspection level and moredigital transformation through optimising the national single window portal andthe customs IT system.

A representative from the Department of Supervision onCustoms Management said that the renovation of inspection methods will beconducted automatically via the national single window portal.

The draft decree will cut five types of documents forinspection compared to the old procedure. Meanwhile, only businesses havinggoods batches belonging to 5 percent of goods subject to random inspection mustsubmit documents, and register for inspection for the remaining 95 percent.

A representative from the drafting board said that thedecree aims to simplify the inspection procedure, contributing to increasinginformation transparency and information sharing.

Particularly, importers can choose the inspection agency fortheir products, as well as the verification organisation, and follow up theirproducts’ information on the national single window portal./.
