Vientiane (VNA) – First Bangkok-Vientiane passenger train departing from Bangkok’s Thep Aphiwat station arrived in Vientiane’s Khamsavath station on July 20 morning.

The train service is among cooperation projects between the governments of Laos and Thailand to facilitate the travel and transportation between the two countries.

Daochinda Sihalath, Director General of the Lao National Railway Company, said the train carried 500 passengers, exceeding the company’s expectation of just 200 passengers.

Recently, the number of foreign tourists to Laos has been increasing. The capital city of Vientiane is an attractive tourist destination and also a convenient transit point to other tourist attractions in Laos.

The official operation of the train connecting the two capitals of Laos and Thailand not only gives tourists another choice but also contributes to promoting traffic connection between the two countries./.
