Hanoi (VNA) – The first batch of one tonne of Luc Ngan “thieu” lychees was exported to Thailand by the Central Group (Thailand) and Hanoi-based Phong Son Tiem Limited Company, according to the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province.

The fruit is now available at Tops and CentralFood Hall supermarkets of the Central Food Retail Company Limited in thecapital city of Bangkok.

Based on the initial assessment, “thieu” lycheeis a popular fruit and can be sold at high prices in Thailand.

To take full advantage of the removal of tariffbarriers since the ASEAN Economic Community was established, businesses haveboosted exports of fresh lychees to the Thai market, aiming to ship about 100tonnes of the fruit in 2017 alone.

According to theprovincial Department of Industry and trade, this year’s lychee production isestimated to hit 100,000 tonnes, equivalent to 70 percent of the previousyear’s output. Of them, there are 26,000 tonnes of early-ripening lychees and74,000 main-crop lychees.

About 40,000 tonnesof fresh lychees are expected to be shipped to China, representing 80 percentof this year’s lychee exports, said the department.

Apart from China,the province has also expanded consumption markets to the US, the EU, Japan andthe Republic of Korea.-VNA

Thailand Week 2026 opens in Hanoi

Electronics exports surpass 107 billion USD in 2025
