Chinaremains a traditional and important consumption market for Bac Giang lychees in2017, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.
Many traders in China have completed procedures to purchase Luc Ngan lychees.These traders together with the Vietnamese traders opened some 150 lycheeselling points in China. A kilogramme of lychee sold in China fetches from35,000-57,000 VND (1.54-2.5 USD).
About 40,000 tonnes of fresh lychees are expected to be shipped to China,representing 80 percent of this year’s lychee exports.
This year, Vietnamese lychees will be present at three new markets- the MiddleEast, Canada and Thailand for the first time. The first batch of lychees toThailand was shipped on June 20.
According to Tran Quang Tan, director of the provincial Department of Industryand Trade, Bac Giang lychees are cultivated in a concentrated lychee growingarea, using VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards which ensure food safety andhygiene requirements.
The locality has so far this year sold more than 22,000 tonnes of lychees. Ofthe total amount, Tan Yen district sold over 12,000 tonnes, Luc Nam district2,000 tonnes, Luc Ngan district 5,500 tonnes and Yen The 800 tonnes.
To promote Luc Ngan lychee, Bac Giang province organised the 2017 Luc Ngan-BacGiang Lychee Week, which began at Big C Thang Long Supermarket in Hanoi lastweek.-VNA
