Tokyo (VNA) – The FAVIJA Tokai Cup 2019 for Vietnamese people living in Japan’s Tokai region took place in Aichi Prefecture on May 12.

The event was held by the football association of Vietnamese people in Japan (FAVIJA) under the sponsorship of the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan. It saw the participation of 32 teams, comprising mainly of young trainees and students.

FC Shibata from Aichi Prefecture’s Nagoya city triumphed at the football tournament, followed by FC 37 Nagoya and FC Suzuka. Individual titles were also presented to top goals and goalkeepers.

In addition to gathering together the Vietnamese expat community, the tournament was designed to welcome Japan’s new era Reiwa, which began on May 1 with the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito. Therefore, it also aimed to enhance the Vietnam-Japan traditional friendship.

Currently, more than 300,000 Vietnamese people are living, working, and studying in Japan. –VNA
